~ Luigi

Background[]

As a baby, Luigi was destined for greatness as one of the seven Star Children along with his brother Mario. Luigi grew up with his brother in the Mushroom Kingdom. When Mario and Luigi were babies, they were carried in bags by a stork to deliver them to their parents. However, the stork dropped the twins because of Kamek racing towards them. Kamek kidnapped Luigi and the stork, and Mario was dropped off Yoshi’s back on “Yoshi’s Island”. Yoshi and Mario decided to work together to rescue Luigi and the stork from being kidnapped.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • High Jump: Luigi has the ability to jump higher than his brother, Mario.
  • Green Fireball: Luigi can shoot red & orange fireballs in the Mario series, but in the in Super Smash Bros. series, he can shoot green fireballs that go horizontally without the need of a power-up. This is his neutral special move.
  • Green Missile: Luigi charges up his body for three seconds and launches himself horizontally, similar to a rocket. This move has a chance to “misfire” and become a powerful explosion-like move. This move has no origin in the Super Mario series but was released in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This move is similar to Pikachu & Pichu’s “Skull Bash”. This is his side special move.
  • Super Jump Punch: Luigi can do this move similar to Mario’s “Super Jump Punch”, but it goes vertically than diagonally. This move can explode whenever it comes in contact with the opponent. This is his up special move in the Super Smash Brothers.
  • Luigi Cyclone: Luigi spins his body, similar to Mario’s “Mario Tornado”, but does not float as much. Instead, on the ground, he can move very fast, left or right. This is his down special move.
  • Thunderhand: Luigi molds a ball of lightning and sends it at his foes, dealing critical damage.
  • Spare Power-Ups: In the modern platformer games, Luigi has the ability to keep a spare Power-Up in cases where he loses his current ones as an emergency situation.

Equipment[]

  • Poltergust
    • Poltergust 3000: A vacuum cleaner that can suck up ghosts. It also has the ability to blow things away and shoot fire, water, or ice with the acquirement of an Elemental Medal.
    • Poltergust 5000: An advanced version. Newly added is the Strobulb, which allows Luigi to stun ghosts too powerful for a flashlight, the Darklight, which allows him to bring objects and people out of paintings, and the Charge function.
    • Poltergust G-00: An even more advanced version. Has access to the Slam, Burst, and Plunger Shot Functions, as well as the ability to store and generate Gooigi, a clone of Luigi made of Goo.
  • Spare Power-Ups: In the modern platformer games, Luigi has the ability to keep a spare Power-Up in cases where he loses his current ones as an emergency situation.
    • Fire Flower: When Luigi obtains the Fire Flower, he becomes Fire Luigi. Luigi will have a white-and-green outfit suited with the ability to easily shoot out a fireball. The fireball will bounce on the ground repeatedly before eventually going out.
    • Ice Flower: When Luigi obtains the Ice Flower, he becomes Ice Luigi. Luigi will have a cyan-and-green outfit suited with the ability to easily shoot an Ice Ball. These Ice Balls will be capable of freezing most enemies and water. In the Galaxy rendition of the power-up, Luigi would become completely made out ice, be able to walk on water and lava, and have a time limit before reverting back to normal.
    • Super Bell: When Luigi obtains the Super Bell, he becomes Cat Luigi. Wearing a green Cat Suit, Luigi will have feline traits such as being able to briefly run up vertical obstacles such as walls and pounce on enemies with a unique dive attack.
    • Lucky Bell: If Luigi obtains the Lucky Bell, he becomes Lucky Cat Luigi. It is the same as before, but Luigi will now have the ability to transform into a statue midair. This fools enemies into thinking it is just a regular statue and does not attack.
    • Mega Mushroom: When Luigi obtains the Mega Mushroom, he becomes Mega Luigi. Luigi will become gigantic with a high increase in durability and offense. Everything Luigi walks by or through is most likely to be absolutely destroyed in his path. However, there is a timed limit before Luigi will revert back to his normal form.
    • Frog Suit: When Luigi obtains the Frog Suit, he becomes Frog Luigi. While wearing the Frog Suit, he will be able to jump higher, swim faster and resist strong currents.
    • Double Cherry: When Luigi obtains the Double Cherry, he becomes Double Luigi. The power-up simply duplicates another Luigi into the field alongside him. If Luigi grabs another one, he will get another. He can have up to five clones maximum that copy every move he does, but the duplicates themselves go down in a single hit before disappearing.
    • Cape Feather: When Luigi obtains the Cape Feather, he becomes Cape Luigi. Luigi wears a yellow cape behind his usual outfit, and can slowly (or quickly) descend, fly after building enough speed beforehand, and reflect projectiles by spinning around.
    • Gold Flower: When Luigi obtains the Gold Flower, he becomes Silver Luigi. Luigi will be covered in complete silver from head to toe. He will be able to easily shoot out balls of pure silver at foes that will turn them into coins. The ball on contact will then explode, making splash damage follow after, which also turns brick blocks into coins which he can then collect.
    • Hammer Suit: When Luigi obtains the Hammer Suit, he becomes Hammer Luigi. While wearing the Hammer Suit, he will be able to throw, one at a time, an infinite supply of hammers similar to the Hammer Bros.
    • Invisible Cap: When Luigi obtains the Invisible Cap, he becomes Invisible Luigi. Luigi will become completely invisible and intangible to a degree. Luigi can walk through some forms of walls and will have any form of physical contact forced straight through him with no harm done. However, there is a timed limit before Luigi will revert back to his normal form.
    • Super Acorn: When Luigi obtains the Super Acorn, he becomes Flying Squirrel Luigi. With a green suit resembling a flying squirrel, Luigi can glide himself upward using his newfound wings and can attach to some surfaces on walls to gain extra height.
    • Raccoon Leaf: When Luigi obtains the Raccoon Leaf, he becomes Fox Luigi. The Raccoon Leaf gives Luigi two ears and a tail that he can use to hover in mid-air, fly after building up speed beforehand, and reflect projectiles by spinning around.
    • Rock Mushroom: When Luigi obtains the Rock Mushroom, he becomes Rock Luigi. Luigi's clothes will be replaced with more grayish clothing comprised of stone. With this power-up, Luigi can shapeshift into a boulder and ram into objects to break things or damage foes. Luigi can also move and jump while rolling, but it is hard to control completely.
    • Blue Shell: When Luigi obtains the Blue Shell, not to be confused with the Mario Kart item, he becomes Shell Luigi. Luigi will be tucked inside of a blue shell that he can tuck himself into, temporarily raising his defenses. It is as tough as a Koopa Shell, meaning his durability is raised significantly while inside the shell. If Luigi gains enough speed, he can perform the Shell Dash, a powerful offensive attack that can take out most enemies. The only drawback is that it is extremely hard to jump while wearing the shell.
    • Bee Mushroom: When Luigi obtains the Bee Mushroom, he becomes Bee Luigi. His new insect form allows him to briefly fly for a short period of time. Luigi can also climb onto a surface that is made out of honeycomb. However, Luigi will revert back to his normal form if he touches water.
    • Cloud Flower: When Luigi obtains the Cloud Flower, he becomes Cloud Luigi. His outfit becomes a puffy white with a green undershirt, and three Clouds will appear behind his head. If Luigi spins in midair, one of those clouds can be used to create a large, puffy platform that will stay for a brief period of time. Luigi can only use it three times before all the clouds behind him are gone and the power-up disappears.
    • Boo Mushroom: When Luigi obtains the Boo Mushroom, he becomes Boo Luigi. With the body of a ghastly Boo, Luigi can do exactly what a Boo does. He can become intangible and move through surfaces and freely hover in the air. However, Luigi will revert back to his normal form if he runs into light.
    • PhD: When Luigi obtains a PhD, he becomes Doctor Luigi. There isn't much to this form in terms of changes, but Doctor Luigi can throw MegaVitamins in assorted or mixed colors of red, blue, and yellow to defeat nasty viruses.
    • Boomerang Flower: When Luigi obtains the Boomerang Flower, he becomes Boomerang Luigi. Luigi will be given a blue suit and an endless supply of boomerangs. He can throw one at a time to destroy/retrieve items and defeat enemies. Under normal circumstances, the boomerangs will always come back to Luigi.
    • Red Star: When Luigi obtains the Red Star, he becomes Flying Luigi. Out of all the flying power-ups, this one gives him the most control. Luigi does not need to use momentum to keep him going and can freely fly, but he does need to spin midair to activate it. However, there is a timed limit before Luigi will revert back to his normal form.
    • Mario Cap: Putting on the Luigi Cap, Luigi turns into Mario and can use all the abilities Mario has.
    • Wario Cap: Putting on the Wario Cap, Luigi turns into Wario and can use all the abilities Wario has.
    • Mini Mushroom: When Luigi obtains the Mini Mushroom, he becomes Mini Luigi. Luigi will shrink down to a puny size that decreases both his durability, power, and weight. While it comes at the cost of dealing nearly no damage and being easily defeated, the light weight makes Luigi able to jump higher, walk on water and vertical obstacles such as walls. His small weight also allows him to navigate through tiny crevices.
    • Propeller Mushroom: When Luigi obtains the Propeller Mushroom, he becomes Propeller Luigi. Luigi will be given an green jumpsuit along with a propeller hat of the same color. When the propeller hat activates, Luigi will be able to propel himself up at high vertical heights. He will then slowly descend back down onto a surface.
    • Penguin Suit: When Luigi obtains the Penguin Suit, he becomes Penguin Luigi. When wearing the Penguin Suit, Luigi will be able to perform the same actions as Ice Luigi and Frog Luigi, such as ice balls and swimming, but with the additional ability of having better ice traction.
    • P-Wing: When Luigi obtains a P-Wing, Luigi can achieve this form the same as Kitsune Luigi but with a big P on the chest and unlimited flight.
    • Spring Mushroom: When Luigi obtains the Spring Mushroom, he becomes Spring Luigi. Luigi will be coiled up inside of a giant spring and be forced to move around by bouncing akin to a Slinky. Luigi can squeeze in while straightened upward to launch himself high into the air.
    • Tanooki Suit: When Luigi obtains the Tanooki Suit, he becomes Kitsune Luigi. While wearing the Tanooki Suit, it gives off the same powers as Fox Luigi, but also adds in the ability for Luigi to turn into a statue. This fools enemies into thinking it is just a regular statue and does not attack.
    • Super Star: Through the use of a Super Star, he becomes Star Luigi. In this form, Luigi becomes enveloped in a flashing rainbow aura, giving him invulnerability, added speed, and enough power to one-shot basic enemies just by touching them. It can also be stacked on to other power-ups. It has a time limit of around 20 seconds, however.
    • White Tanooki Suit: When Luigi obtains the White Tanooki Suit, he becomes White Kitsune Luigi. This is Luigi's most powerful power-up of all. If Luigi loses five lives in a row, he will be given this suit. NOTHING can defeat Luigi as long as he has this suit. The only drawbacks are that if Luigi loses a level by normal means, he will lose the suit; and Luigi HAS to lose five times in a row in order to get it.
    • Starman/Rainbow Star: When Luigi obtains a Starman/Rainbow Star, he becomes Invincible Luigi. Luigi will be covered with a shining aura that may also be multi-colored. When he obtains this form, he is completely invincible and powerful for a short time, being able to survive anything and take out anything in a single touch. However, there is a timed limit before Luigi will revert back to his normal form.
  • Sharpshooter: A bow-like weapon that fires an arrow-like projectile at long range. The farther the target, the more damage it deals. It has a range of up to 31 meters and a 20% base critical hit rate, which can be upgraded to a 100% critical hit rate if fired from the high ground.
