The Tales series, sometimes acknowledged as Tales of, is a long standing Action Role-Playing Game series developed by Namco Bandai. The first entry of the series, Tales of Phantasia was first released exclusively for the Super Famicom in 1995.
Series Dictionary[]
- Hellion: Exclusive to Tales of Zestiria and Tales of Berseria. Originally known as daemons, hellions are creatures of darkness created when a human is infected by malevolence, which happens when they give into their inner negative thoughts. Hellions can only be seen by seraphim and humans with spiritual resonance, and they can only be defeated by someone with a seraph's power.
- Seraph: Exclusive to Tales of Zestiria and Tales of Berseria. Originally known as malakhim, or malak, seraphim are spiritual beings tied to the elements of nature, allowing them to perform magic. They can only be seen by humans with a spiritual resonance, and they are capable of bonding with humans to be used as familiars. It is possible for a human to become a seraph after death, depending on how they die.
- Shepherd: Exclusive to Tales of Zestiria and Tales of Berseria. A Shepherd is a human who has made a contract with a powerful seraph, giving them the power to purify malevolence, and by extension, purify hellions, and fuse with a seraph in a process known as armatization.
