~ Deadpool

Oh, hey! Wade Wilson here, also known as Deadpool. Thanks for taking the time out of your life to check out this article that tells you just how awesome I am! Now, sit back, grab a drink, and-

HEY!

Uh oh. Gotta run.

Background[]

Wade Wilson had always been rather mentally unstable. In his adulthood, he found himself wanting to be a hero by joining the military, but they turned him down because of his mental instability. And to make matters worse, Wade then discovered that he was diagnosed with lung cancer and was slowly dying. He broke up with his girlfriend to spare her from the burden of a man doomed to die, however it wasn't long before the Weapon X program came to him, offering not to cure his cancer, but to work around it to make him into the hero he always wanted to be. The program gave him a healing factor that negated his cancer... But also made him even more insane, and massively mutilated his face with rapidly-growing tumors. Because his healing factor made him nearly unkillable, the sadistic Dr. Killebrew used him for his experiments that would kill any normal human being. He escaped the Weapon X facilty and took up the mantle of the hero, Deadpool. Except... Whether or not he's a hero is pretty debatable.

Powers & Abilities[]

  • Genetically Enhanced Physiology: Deadpool's powers come from the experimentation he was submitted to by the Weapon X program.
    • Regenerative Healing Factor: Deadpool possesses a superhuman healing factor derived from that of the mutant Wolverine which allows him to regenerate damaged or destroyed bodily tissue with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. His head or any other limb can be reattached using this ability. While beheaded, Deadpool can still move his body normally. In small doses, Deadpool's blood has demonstrated the ability to heal others and extend their lifespans beyond their natural limits. When combined with Star Cells injected intravenously, it confers immortality.
      • Foreign Chemical Resistance: Deadpool's body is highly resistant to poisons and most drugs. For example, it is extremely difficult, though not impossible, for him to become intoxicated (Blind Al made several references to Deadpool being hung-over since he once drunkenly spoke to the Teletubbies on the TV he was watching). He can, momentarily, be affected by certain drugs (tranquilizers) if exposed to a large enough dosage.
      • Disease Immunity: The unique regenerative qualities of Deadpool's healing factor also extend to his immune system; he is immune to all diseases, infections, disorders, imperfection, and resistant to elemental extremes.
      • Immortality: Deadpool's healing factor provides him with an endless lifespan by halting the aging process. His life span is extended to such a degree that an alternate reality version of him was alive and still in business as Deadpool 800 years in the future. He was also cursed with immortality by T-Ray on behalf of Thanos, in order to keep him away from Death, but Thanos removed the curse, because it didn't apply to being killed, AND so Wiz and Boomstick could violently murder Deadpool.
      • Telepathic Immunity: The healing factor causes his brain to be in a constant state of flux and regeneration, rendering him immune to psychics such as Cable, Emma Frost, and the Red Onslaught. Deadpool can be looped into a telepathic psi-link to communicate with others mentally, as he did while a member of X-Force, but actually reading his mind can be confusing, even to an accomplished telepath like Psylocke. This would not prevent him from being attacked psychically though.
      • Possession Resistance: Similar to the telepathic immunity, Deadpool is able to remain in control of himself while supernatural beings are trying to take control of him. During Xaphan's attempt to take control of him, Wade was able to fight for control of his body. No one can touch his soul.
    • Superhuman Strength: Deadpool is rated as having a low degree of superhuman strength allowing him to lift 800 pounds.
    • Peak Human Speed: Deadpool can run as fast as a trained athlete.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Deadpool's musculature generates considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of an ordinary human being, granting him superhuman levels of stamina in all physical activities. He can physically exert himself at peak capacity for several days before fatigue takes over.
    • Superhuman Agility: Deadpool's agility, flexibility, dexterity, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
    • Superhuman Reflexes: His reflexes are far superior to those of even the finest human athlete. His auto-reflexes allow him to easily dodge gunfire and attacks even when not consciously aware of them.
    • Superhuman Durability: Deadpool's bone and muscle tissues are augmented to levels that are considerably stronger and harder than human and the tissues are impervious to injury to an extraordinary extent. He possesses golden-proportioned body, and even without training his muscles are brawny and his body shape doesn't change no matter how many calories he intakes.
  • Cybernetic Arm (formerly): After Deadpool cut Cable's cybernetic arm from his Techno-Organic body and equipped it, it granted Deadpool following powers:
    • Enhanced Strength: With Cable's completely metallic arm arm, Deadpool was capable of curl and dead-lift several tons, without assistance from his right arm.
  • Master Martial Artist: Deadpool is an extraordinary martial artist, hand-to-hand combatant, and is a master in multiple unarmed combat techniques, including Savate. He has been shown fighting such amazingly skilled fighters as Wolverine and Taskmaster and even defeating them in hand to hand combat. This shows that Deadpool himself is among one of the most skilled fighters in the Marvel universe, although in some fights it has been attributed to him being unpredictable.
  • Master Assassin: He is a master of assassination techniques, espionage methods, covert operations, infiltration methods, escape artistry, marksmanship, and is highly skilled with many bladed weapons (frequently carrying two swords strapped to his back) and a number of other weapons including firearms.
  • Multilingual: In addition to English, Wade is fluent in Esperanto, German, Japanese, and Spanish.
  • Soul Resistance: When Ghost Rider tried to kill Wade by using the classic Penance Stare - he simply got a reel of Wade’s life, but the Penance Stare was unable to destroy Wade’s soul and it reverted him back into Johnny, which was explained by Deadpool being so insane, his sins could no longer be used against him.
  • Medium Awareness: After accidentally being transported to the Foundation of Reality by the Beyonder, Deadpool became consciously aware that he is a fictional comic book character - though he noted he had always known subconsciously - allowing him to break the fourth wall. Wade doesn't possess this ability at all times due to the constant changes in his brain. References to the fourth wall made by those with similar abilities to him can trigger his medium awareness.
  • Unpredictability: It is difficult for anyone to know what Deadpool will do at any given moment, given that he himself barely knows what he'll do at any given moment. This makes it difficult for most opponents to predict what he will do. Taskmaster, whose abilities allowed him to analyze and copy the mercenary's fighting style, once believed Deadpool always dodged to the left. Deadpool proved him wrong, however, by completely changing his fighting style on a whim, throwing off Taskmaster's abilities.
  • His Mouth: Almost always talks in combat, to either distract his opponents, throw them off, or to infuriate them, making them lose a cool head.

Equipment[]

  • Deadpool's Suit: Deadpool wears a full body tactical suit.
  • Magic Satchel of Unlimited Weaponry: allows him to pull almost any item from seemingly nowhere. The weapons he can pull out include:
    • Katanas: Wilson wields a pair of steel katanas. He is able to charge his katanas with an energy field through his suit, increasing the durability of his swords and increasing their cutting power to the point that they can easily cut through objects as hard as diamond.
    • Carbonadium Sword: A word in the style of a Katana, it is made out of the super strong alloy Carbonadium and is capable of impeding healing factors.
    • Guns: being an expert marksmen Wade has a wide variety of guns that he typically uses for long range combat.
    • Grenades: Wade has been known to carry grenades on his person for use in various situations.
    • Matter Disintegration Gun: This weapon destroys anything on a molecular scale. Deadpool mainly brings it out against unkillable beings such as vampires, and has stated that he has never seen anyone survive the blast.
    • Submachine Guns:
      • Koch MP5K: Able to fire 30 rounds, best used as a close-combat weapon. He also uses an IMI Uzi in combat as a substitute.
      • Colt M16A1: Long range weapon is semi-automatic and is best fired at a medium distance. The gun fires 5.56x45mm NATO rounds from a 20-round magazine, is mainly used as the primary weapon for the infantry of Western armies such as the US Armed Forces, and can be customized with a variety of attachments such as custom sights and scopes, a stock to increase stability, a laser sight, flashlight and underbarrel grenade launchers and shotguns.
      • Franchi SPAS 12: Has 12 gauge caliber and potentially 5, 6, or 8-rounds before reloading. It cracks like thunder and stings like a fire truck to the face and if you are at close range, well, there won’t be much to clean up.
      • Sniper Rifle: Deadpool's precision and eyesight with it is so good he is able to accurately point at a mini drone in Red Hulk’s ear and shoot at it.
      • M-60: Fires 7.62x51mm bullets and has a capacity of 100-200 shots. It is fully automatic.
      • RPG-7: Can fire one rocket at a time due to its weight as well as its destructive capacity. A weapon like this is able to destroy buildings with ease.
      • Milkor Multiple Grenade Launcher: Capable of holding and shooting six grenades from its revolver-style feeding system. It’s also surprisingly lightweight for an explosive weapon; the portability aids Deadpool’s mobility whenever he has his hands on this.
      • M61 Vulcan: Fires 20mm bullets and can weighs 248 pounds. The bullets fired from this thing are so strong that they can easily take down armored vehicles and helicopters. Any human being that gets caught in this beast’s line of sight is sure to be reduced to a fine red paste.
    • Portable Dubstep Cannon: In his fight against Carnage, Deadpool used Carnage’s own weakness against sound based attacks against him by attaching small speakers to himself. Weaponized sounds that are around 700 kHz to 3.6 MHz can cause lung and intestinal damage, but let’s be honest here - you will probably pass out first due to the awful music.
    • Time Gun Machine: It fires chronokinetic energy through a bullet casing. Meaning it has the ability to shoot time. According to Deadpool (so this might be inaccurate) it can kill characters with chronokinetic abilities/people who time travel like his old pal Cable but it’s most bizarre ability is that it can turn people into historic figures such as Hitler.
    • Knives:
      • Hunting Knives
      • Pocket Knives
      • Jack Knives
      • Hidden Switchblades
    • Twin Sai: Deadpool mainly uses them more as a defensive weapon due to the sai being able to disarm foes easily.
    • Hammers: Deadpool is strong enough to dual-wield large hammers strong enough to knock people’s heads clean off.
    • Wristblades
    • Bombs:
      • Smoke Bombs
      • Sleeping Bombs
      • TNT
      • Several C4's
      • Timed Bombs
      • Nuclear Warhead
    • Neural Destructor Nets
    • Wires
    • Grappling Hook Guns
    • A Suitcase Bomb
    • Binoculars
    • X-Ray Scope
    • Night Vision Scope
    • Sniping Scopes
    • Motorcycle
    • Smoke Grenades
    • Sonic Bombs
    • Bolas
    • Shurikens
    • Exploding Shurikens

    • Laser Guns
    • Laser Cannons
    • Tranquilizer Darts
    • Rocket Launchers
    • Bazookas
    • Rail Guns
    • Axes
    • Bug Spray: Just uses it to get rid of insects he didn't like.
  • Belt: A device that Wade uses to teleport to around anywhere on earth. The Belt also can change his physical appearance.
  • Teleportation Device: Deadpool has utilized different teleportation devices to whisk him out of (and occasionally into) danger. Deadpool was able to 'bodyslide' to wherever Cable is present, through Providence. At different periods Deadpool has possessed different teleportation technologies which he sometimes uses for combat.
  • Cable's Time-Traveling Device: Deadpool briefly uses the time-traveling device used by Cable and repaired by Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio to traverse universes and time.
  • Image Inducer: Deadpool had access to an holographic image inducer that he can use to disguise his true appearance as necessary.
  • Bloodstone: During the fight against the Bone Beasts Hive who had cursed Elsa's Bloodstone which began infecting, Deadpool removed the stone from Elsa as she was succumbing to it and put it on himself, granting powers, but also infecting as his healing factor was unable to fight it.
  • Black Symbiotic Costume: Deadpool was part of the Secret Wars and temporarily bounded with the Venom Symbiote before Spider-Man did. However, fearing his insanity would affect it, he made the symbiote return inside the machine it escaped before Spider-Man entering the room. Sometime later, after Spider-Man got rid of it inside of Our Lady of Saints Church, Deadpool meet with it again and, this time, used it for good. Killer Thrill had a plan to get their attention and capture the symbiote, by kidnapping Spider-Man as the symbiote would feel he's in danger. After her plan failed, the symbiote tried to eat him but Deadpool stopped it, thus ending their bond and friendship. The symbiote returned to the church, where Deadpool, stalking the symbiote, encouraged Eddie Brock, a man who was going to commit suicide because his career failed thanks to Spider-Man, to enter the church, as Deadpool believed Eddie would find what he wanted in there. Because the symbiote felt his hatred towards Spider-Man, they fused and became Venom.
  • Amalgamated Symbiote: After Deadpool was dismembered by Carnage and left for dead, the symbiotes Riot, Lasher, Phage, and Agony bonded to him in order to take revenge on their brethren. After Carnage was subdued, Deadpool passed the four symbiotes on to Mercury Team's German Shepherd.
  • Loop Temporal Dislocation Harness: Given to Deadpool by Dr. Carl Weathers, who was working for the Time Variance Authority, in order for Deadpool and Loop to cure the cancer within the timestream.
  • Unnamed Device: Allows Deadpool to open a portal door that transports him and anyone who goes with him to any far away place, universes, dimensions or any nearby place he's too lazy to walk to.
  • Continuity Gem: The unofficial, hidden seventh Infinity Gem. It can alter anything in the long-standing history of Marvel Comics in a near-instant, which makes it a prize attraction for fanboys pissed off at whatever stupid decision the company is responsible for at any time. In terms of actually being used as a weapon though, it hasn’t.

Alternate Forms[]

Weapon XI[]

In the X-Men Cinematic Universe, Wilson's reflexes are enhanced to levels unobtainable by normal human beings. He has demonstrated this by dodging and reflecting bullets. He has even cut one in half with a katana.

  • Superhuman Strength: Before Wolverine tried to escape at roof of reactor, Weapon XI kicked him with two legs at same time, throwing him few meters away. Either such strength is his own ability, or has been took from another mutant is unknown at this moment.
  • Superhuman Agility: Wilson's agility, balance, and body coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete. When battling with Wolverine and Victor, Weapon XI is shown of jumping and making back-flip at 3 meters above them (assuming that Hugh Jackman is 1,8 m high and Weapon XI was at almost twice as high height above him).
  • Superhuman Senses: Weapon XI seems to have senses such as Wolverine (or Victor), as he is able to detect/sense Victor trying to attack him from back, and quickly react by shooting Victor with optic blast. Also, during his attack at Victor with optic blast, he detected Wolverine too while Wolverine jumped at him from back (in moments before Wolverine decapitated him).
  • Optic Blasts: Wilson's eyes were engineered to allow him to emit similar optic blasts that Scott Summers produces. He has limited control of this however and when he unleashes these blasts the surrounding skin is burned creating his signature eye markings.
  • Implanted Blades: Two Adamantium blades were implanted in his forearms, and can retract at will much like Wolverine's claws. Unlike Wolverine's claws, his blades are much longer, meaning that he can attack from longer and safer distance. Though better, blades have one drawback to claws, as Wolverine can walk on walls thanks to his claws (3x2 claws vs 2 longer swords).
  • Healing Factor: During his transformation into Weapon XI, he was given Wolverine's regenerative healing factor which allows his body to almost instantly heal wounds. This type of regeneration seems to exceed Wolverine's.
  • Phase-Jumping: Wilson was given John Wraith's power to teleport from place to place almost instantaneously.
  • Technopathy: The power which Chris Bradley demonstrated, the ability to control electrical/wireless devices and receive electrical/wireless signals, was given to Wilson. This is the way William Stryker was able to activate, command, and control Weapon XI.
  • Survivability: As his mouth has been surgically shut, that implies that Weapon XI does not need to eat or drink unlike humans and most of mutants. Also, after his head has been cut, his body was still alive and search for the also living decapitated head. This power may come from genetic enhancements of his healing abilities, possibly by using DNA from other mutants who possess such power.
  • Two Adamantium Katana-Style Blades

Weaknesses[]

  • Mental State: His healing abilities render his brain unreadable to telepaths, but its constant healing also makes him highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts without the slightest provocation, at least against those he knows could handle. Even with his healing factor, Deadpool can still feel pain from damage taken, although he has a notably high pain tolerance. While it has been shown that Deadpool's condition may not be the source of his instability, it only makes it worse. In several flashbacks to his childhood, he has shown signs of instability.
  • Annoyance: Wade's incessant talking has also proven to make him a very irritating person to be around. Many heroes often find themselves at wits' end around him; this makes for poor ability to cooperate with him in team efforts. Domino once said that Deadpool's most lethal weapon is his mouth. He will blabber nonsense during the whole fight, distracting and maiming the opponent until the latter "surrenders or commits suicide."
  • Cure for Cancer: Wade's healing factor was specifically designed to replace his bodies cells as fast as they were being destroyed by his illness. Should his cancer be cured then his healing factor would be rapidly producing redundant new cells, which, if left unchecked, would cause horrible growths over the body and would eventually explode, as demonstrated on the Super Skrulls with Deadpool's powers.
  • Phobias: Deadpool has bovinophobia, which is the fear of cows. According to him, cows "scare the *#$% outta me", as he believes their stare to be chilling, like they're "waiting". He may also be scared of chickens, like Domino. This may also have been an attempt to find common ground with her, as he was later able to put one in her path to stop her. During Deadpool's adventure to save the multiverse from the Awareness, it was revealed that his worst fear is to be truly and utterly alone.
  • Mystical Curse: Deadpool was cursed for a short time by Loki, who claimed to be his father. The curse made him look like Tom Cruise, rendered his face totally invulnerable, and caused his life to "fall to ruin." The curse was removed when Deadpool reconciled with his true father, who he met in a bar without ever realizing who it was. This seems to contradict an issue of "Cable & Deadpool" when, in a conversation between Cable and Deadpool about their pasts and parents, Deadpool's father is shown dying when he was a teenager, however when questioned on the truth of the story by Cable, Deadpool responds, "I'll tell you the truth when you tell me."
  • Immaturity: Deadpool is childish and enjoys pop culture. He makes crude jokes and metaphors almost constantly.

Fun Facts[]

  • Deadpool was directly inspired by Deathstroke.
  • Deadpool thinks his best friend is Wolverine, which couldn't be further from the truth. His real best friend is Bob, Agent of Hydra.
