Background[]

Taught by her military-trained father since childhood, Black Orchid bore a genetic trait known as the Firecat, which could manifest a fiery beast to act as a weapon at her beck and call. Eventually hired by a private military corporation, Orchid had been monitoring the mega-corporation, Ultratech, and suspected it of malicious intent. Orchid's superiors did not believe her, leading her to stand alone against UltraTech, gaining allies in the form of MMA fighter TJ Combo, Meso-American monster huntress Maya, and warrior monk Jago, who happened to be her long-lost brother. Though she still stands on her own, she vows to bring Ultratech down and expose it for what it truly is.

  • Special Moves:
    • Lasaken: B. Orchid releases a spinning energy projectile that travels forward.
    • Tonfa Fire: B. Orchid stretches her tonfas out, shooting two fireballs.
    • Fake Tonfa Fire: B. Orchid performs a faint, pretending to release a Tonfa Fire.
    • Flick Flak: B. Orchid performs a handstand, splits her leg and hits the opponent with a spinning kick. While returning on her legs, she delivers a second hit with her descending leg.
    • Fire Cat: B. Orchid morphs her entire body into a felid-like shape covered in pure energy, then dashes towards the opponent. This move can be turned into a Shadow and a Super Move, increasing speed, damage and number of hits.
    • Spinning Sword: B. Orchid pivots on herself and delivers two upward strikes with her sticks, sending the opponent flying.
    • Ichi Ni San: When using sticks, B. Orchid thrusts both of them into the opponent. She can perform two follow up (Ni and San) constinting in two overhead strikes delivered with each stick. This move can become a Shadow Move, which is faster and deals more damage. When using tonfas, B. Orchid delivers a downward strike, which can be followed by several other identical strikes. This version can also be enhanced into a Super Move, increasing the strength of the hit.
    • Back Flip: B. Orchid performs a backflip, hitting the opponent with two rising kicks.
    • Air Buster: B. Orchid delivers a powerful jumping knee strike.
    • Tiger Slide: B. Orchid turns around and slides leg-first towards the opponent.
    • Flick Flack: Orchid performs a handstand, splits her legs and rotates on herself, kicking the opponent twice during the spin, and a third time with her descending heel while she returns on her feet. The effectiveness of this technique is amplified by electricity, which shocks the opponent every time time they're kicked. Shadow Energy makes this attack even more powerful.
    • Ichi Ni San: A combination of strikes delivered with her spring batons. The first two hits are always thrusting attacks that target the face and the chest, while the third varies depending on each version. With the light version, Orchid thrusts the opponent's legs. With the medium one, she clubs their head while even more electricity sparks from the batons. Lastly, the heavy version is a double attack that slams the opponent from both sides. The latter can also be charged, sacrifing momentum in exchange of a large electric explosion. Shadow Energy allows Orchid to channel electricity like never before. By planting her batons on the ground, she summons five pillars of electric energy that erupts all together on the same spot, or one after another, traveling for a short distance.
    • Blockade Runner: Orchid slides forward, kicking the opponent while covering either a short or long distance.
      • Firecat: Shadow Energy amplifies Orchid's connection to the Firecat, turning her into the blazing feline itself. She doesn't trigger a fiery explosion like the Firecat usually does. Instead, she tackles the opponent, hitting them five times.
    • Air Buster: Orchid delivers a rising knee attack.
      • Upper Firecat: Once again, Orchid turns into the Firecat, this time leaping upwards and hitting five time.
    • Instinct:
      • Firecats: Orchid focuses her electric power, which now surges from her arms, enhancing even her batons. While in this state, it becomes easier for her to summon the Firecat, which can now appear more times in a row and aid Orchid even when she performs a combo.
        • Firecat: The Firecat is a manifestation Orchid can summon and control through her emotions. It appears as cat-like creature entirely made of fiery energy, which can explode on contact, causing massive damage and scattering flames around, usually setting the environment on fire. The level of sentience and awareness of this manifestation is unknown, just like the place it comes from and whether it is a single entity appearing multiple times, or a different one coming out every time it is summoned. The secret behind Orchid's connection to the Firecat lies in her genes. During World War II, her grandmother had volunteered as a test subject for a secret military study: Project Aries 9. This experiment exposed her to something known as G-source, altering her DNA and granting her the power to summon the flaming beast; such ability was then passed down to Orchid. Her first meeting with the Firecat happened when, in the sixth grade, she started a fire that nearly burned down her school after being taunted by some kids. She blamed it on something she called “the Firecat", and only her father knew the truth, as he had witnessed his mother doing the same in the past. He told her to only use her hidden power unless it was a life or death situation, and under his training Orchid gained full control over the Firecat, learning to suppress emotions such as rage or humiliation, which are powerful but useless in battle, and replaced them with thoughts that made her feel proud and strong, such as her father's eyes peering into her own. Since then, the Firecat has become her strongest and most valuable weapon. At an unknown point in time, Orchid figured out how to harness Shadow Energy, using it to strengthen her bond with the Firecat and briefly merge with it, as shown through techniques such as Firecat and Upper Firecat, and the the beast's ultimate potential is revelaed when Orchid enters her Instinct state.
  • Techniques:
    • Whiplash: Orchid performs a cartwheeling kick that hits twice.
    • Grenade Toss: Orchid tosses a stun grenade that explodes after awhile.
    • Danger Zone: While in the air, Orchid grabs the opponent, plants both her feet in their midsection and kicks them down.
  • Finishers:
    • Heart Attack: B. Orchid unzips her suit and shows her body to the opponent. This results in males having mixed reaction, but all of them will end up having what seems to be a heart attack due to inexplicable reasons. Female opponents will instead become upset.
    • Frog Stomp: B. Orchid points her sticks to the opponent, turning them into a frog. She then violently stomps over them.
    • No Mercy III: B. Orchid releases a stream of electricity which chars the opponent to death.
  • Shadow Energy: Shadow Energy is a source of power mainly found in the Astral Plane, but it also exists in limited quantities within the inhabitants of the Mundane Plane. However, only very few people are able to harness and manipulate such energy. Its most basic property is to passively increase one's statistics proportionally to the amount of Shadow Energy they own. Shadow Energy is very malleable and can be used for a variety of purposes, although only expert wielders, such as the Shadow Lords, are able to use its full potential. Orchid possesses rudimentary knowledge of how to handle Shadow Energy, thus she can only use it to enhance the strength and properties of her Special Moves, turning them into Shadow Moves. Initially these attacks were depicted as marked by a dense and iridescent trail that followed the user, but it was later changed into a purple aura that surrounds the user entirely.
  • Fighting Style: Orchid's fighting style is a deadly and unique mixture of martial arts, weapons, acrobatics and supernatural powers, all abilities she has mastered over the course of her life, training as a military and fighting on the front line against a pletora of opponents and in extremely dangerous situations. In combat she adopts the mindset of a soldier, and thus she is laser-focused on simultaneously killing the enemy and staying alive, while discarding useless emotions such as anger. In order to be successfull, she practices emergency conditioning, mentally preparing for any kind of combat situation through pre-visualization. Orchid prefers to fight on her own most of the time, but she is more than eager to summon the Firecat and finish off the opponent whenever it is required. When it comes to approach an opponent, she often uses her stealth and survival skills to exploit the environment and catch them off guard, without leaving them time to react. Can fight against multiple comparable enemies at the same time, as shown when she and Jago fought back an army of Fulgores and Stalkers, slaughtering many of them in the process before being overwhelmed. She is mostly versed at fighting from close to mid range, but has several ways to reach an opponent from afar, either with ranged attacks or by closing the distance with techniques such as Blockade Runner, Firecat or with the many jumping attacks she can perform.
    • Martial Arts & Acrobatics: Thanks to her lifelong training and fighting experience, Orchid can blend a variety of military close combat techniques and gymnastic movements, supported by her great agility, flexibility and superhuman strength. Her hands are used to fight with the spring batons, thus she storms the opponent with a large variety of kicks and knees. On top of that, she can even use her legs to grab the opponent, and make electricity spark from them for increased damage. Moves such as Whiplash, Flick Flack and Blockade Runner are the first examples of what she can perform. With the same ease, she can perform flips and twists in the air, string together flying attacks, or dive over the opponent with a wheel kick. On the ground, she is able to slide forward for long distances without having to build momentum, and rotate on herself to sweep the opponent's feet.
    • Eskrima: Also known as Arnis or Kali, it is the national martial art of the Philippines, based on fighting with a pair sticks, knives and similar weapons. It was taught to Orchid by her father, who in turn learned it in a military base in the Philippines. Instead of using sticks, Orchid utilizes two spring batons she herself has invented. On top of their basic functions, such tools are enhanced by electricity, which adds a shocking effect to every hit they land. Orchid's mastery over this art is continuosly displayed in combat, as she naturally alternates this style with the rest of her arsenal to perform lethal combos. She can swirl the batons on her moving hands as a simple stunt, just to unleash an Ichi Ni San a second after, leaving the opponent badly clobbered and electrocuted.
    • Stealth: Orchid isn't afraid of taking on an opponent face to face, but she also knows the value of employing stealth to her advantage. She honed this practice under her father, who taught her a variety of survival skill, and mastered it through the courses in espionage and killing techniques of the Special Warfare Department. Her ability has been displayed by a number of achievements. She performed an undercover mission inside Ultratech, discovering information pointing toward alien technology and finding out that key members of the SWD were under the control of ARIA. After having been framed by her own agency, she fled the country and used all of her skill to reach Eastern Europe undetected. She is the founder and leader of the international spy ring called The Disavowed. Some additional feats she could perform include assaulting enemies from the shadows and sneaking up on natural-born hunters such as the Stalkers.

  • Escrima Sticks / Tonfas:
  • Electrified Spring Batons: A pair of retractable melee weapons. Despite being of modern fashion, Orchid uses them accordingly to the tradition of Filipino martial arts. These batons have been made with Ultratech technology, which makes them able to conduct electricity to shock the victim with each hit, or even generate large electrici explosions when charged.
  • Grenades: Stun grenades set to explode after a while, dealing damage and releasing a cloud of smoke.
